Observatory of public reading - The Books and Reading Department of the French Ministry of Culture
The French Ministry of Culture carries out an annual survey of all public libraries in France. Its objective is to collect, analyze and disseminate data on library activities, including the number, access and use of these establishments, the documentary resources at the disposal of the public, etc.
"At this time, nearly 12,000 public reading establishments are regularly interviewed by the observatory of public reading, which constitutes one of the richest databases available to cultural actors".
