How does a project progress with Géoclip?

Are you interested in, or even captivated by, Géoclip?
Do you have a new project in mind which will include a cartographic dimension? Would you like to find out more about how Géoclip is used in projects?
The following text will describe the general principles which we are committed to, the atmosphere in which we like to work and the major stages in a tailored project built around the Géoclip Server solution.

The aim of the Géoclip interactive cartography model that we are developing within eMc3 is to provide easy access, smooth browsing and fast display speeds. The omnipresent Flash drive that the interface relies on has been a “web standard” for some time now and is widely recognised for its performance. The used data is assembled and structured in a database in order to simplify updates. The application administrator can use a management tool to perform maintenance on both statistical and geographical data.

The Géoclip model that is available today is the culmination of six years of experience in the field of web-based interactive cartography. It combines the power of a server-side database with the flexibility of a Flash plugin in the web surfer’s browser.

It is a modular, open solution developed entirely by the Emc3 team, who are responsible for making improvements to it. Géoclip puts statistical information to work and makes it accessible through a wide range of thematic analyses. The maps react when you hover a mouse over them or click on them, and you can construct whichever geographic scaling you want and define the territories you are interested in by selecting them.

You can even continue to benefit from the information when your browser is not running, thanks to Excel exports and printouts. All of these benefits, without any complex software to install or maintain on the server or the client workstation.

An interactive cartography application built in the image of the Géoclip model has “basic” functions, in other words the functions we offered in our “Discover France” demonstration - everything you would expect to find in a truly interactive application, zooming and moving, choice of mapped information, geographical landmarks and selection of a portion of territory, etc.

This application can be customised to reflect the specific requirements of each project. So, new features which have not yet been provided can be created to produce a truly dedicated tool. You define your own requirements and objectives. We then study your specification, so that we can offer you the most suitable proposal.
